In 2009, in the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED created a program called TEDx – a platform for local organizers to bring people together to share a TED-like experience (x = an independently organized TED event). Since 2010, we’ve hosted TEDxHouston, TEDxHoustonLive, TEDxHoustonWomen, TEDxHoustonChange, TEDxYouth@TEDxHouston, and TEDxHoustonCity2.0.

At TEDxHouston events, TED videos and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in an intimate group. TED provides the license and general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including TEDxHouston’s, are self-organized.
